Fremtiden skapes nå

Beiarn is a small, but exciting municipality in Salten in Nordland. With only 999 inhabitants and an area of 1222 km2, Beiarn is one of the least populated municipalities in the country. But that does not mean that it lacks experiences, activities and opportunities for those who live here or visit.

Beiarn has a beautiful and varied nature, with mountains, valleys, rivers and fjords. Beiarelva is one of the best salmon rivers in Nordland, and there are also good opportunities for fjord fishing and fishing in lakes. The municipality has many alpine mountain peaks that attract ski enthusiasts, and there are also nice hiking trails, bike routes and kayaking for those who like outdoor activities.

Beiarn also has a rich cultural life, with a rural museum, a library, a perennial nursery, a radio and several festivals and events throughout the year. Some of the highlights are Beiardagene, Beiarpulsen, Beiarn Rock Festival and Beiarn Winter Festival . The municipality also has a church from 1873 that is worth seeing.

Beiarn has a varied business structure, with agriculture, trade, service and industry. The municipality has the largest goat farming among the county’s municipalities after Vestvågøy, and also grows berries, vegetables and potatoes. The industry in Beiarn is modest, but there are some companies in wood products, construction, transport and mechanical. The municipality also has a well-developed infrastructure, with road, airport, port, school, kindergarten and health and care services.

Beiarn is located in Indre Salten in Nordland, with borders to Gildeskål and Meløy in the west, Bodø in the north, Saltdal in the east and Rana in the south. It is about 100 km to Bodø city from Moldjord which is the municipal center in Beiarn. There is a bus between Beiarn and Bodø daily.
