Live in Salangen

Salangen municipality is a small, but lively municipality in Troms og Finnmark county. The municipality has 2048 inhabitants and is located in Inner South Troms between the three cities of Harstad, Narvik and Tromsø. The municipal center is Sjøvegan which is located at the end of Sagfjorden. Salangen has an area of 458 square kilometers and borders Dyrøy, Sørreisa, Bardu, Lavangen and Ibestad.

Salangen has an active cultural life with a regional cultural center, a library, a cultural school, a volunteer center, several museums and many associations and clubs. Every year there are several festivals and events in Salangen, such as Salangsdagan, Salangen Live, Salangen Grand Prix and Salangen Culture Festival.

Salangen has a well-developed infrastructure with road, bus and express boat connection to neighboring municipalities and cities. The municipality also has a good selection of public services such as schools, kindergartens, health center, doctor’s office, nursing home, care homes and NAV. The municipality has two primary schools (Salangen school and Upper Salangen school), one secondary school (Salangen school) and one high school (Sjøvegan high school). The municipality also has four kindergartens (Sagatun kindergarten, Sjøvegan kindergarten, Upper Salangen kindergarten and Elvenes kindergarten).
