Nesseby municipality, or Unjárga gielda in Northern Sami, is a small and beautiful municipality in Troms og Finnmark county. The municipality is located at the innermost part of the Varangerfjord and borders Finland in the south. Nesseby has about 880 inhabitants who live in a varied and rich natural and cultural landscape.
Nesseby has a lot to offer for both residents and visitors. The municipality has an active cultural life with, among other things, a cultural school, youth club, UKM, cultural days, cinema and various types of courses. Nesseby is also a sea-Sami municipality with a strong connection to its history, language and traditions. You can experience sea-Sami culture at the Varanger Sami Museum, which is located in Varangerbotn, the municipality’s administrative center.
If you love outdoor activities, Nesseby has many opportunities for you. You can fish in the sea, in the salmon rivers or in the mountain lakes. You can hunt for grouse, go hiking in the mountains or observe birds and plants. You can also take a trip across the border to Finland and explore the Finnish landscape .

The municipality has, among other things, agriculture, fishing, reindeer husbandry, trade, service, tourism and handicrafts as important industries.
