Brønnøy municipality is a beautiful and diverse municipality on Helgeland in Nordland. It has a rich history, a varied business sector and an active cultural life. The municipality has about 8000 inhabitants who live in the urban areas of Brønnøysund, Nordhus, Toft and Hommelstø, as well as on the islands of Torget, Sauren and Vega. Brønnøy borders the municipalities of Vevelstad, Vefsn, Grane, Bindal and Sømna.
Brønnøy is known for its beautiful landscape, which includes fjords, mountains, forests and islands. One of the most famous landmarks is Torghatten, the famous mountain with a hole in the middle. Other attractions are the Vega Archipelago World Heritage Site, which consists of over 6000 islands with unique nature and culture, and Brønnøy Church, a medieval church from the 13th century.
Brønnøy has a varied business sector, ranging from fishing and agriculture to industry and trade. The municipality has the headquarters of Torghatten ASA, one of the country’s largest transport group. The private business sector consists of companies in construction and engineering, mechanical industry, stone industry, tourism and service.
Brønnøy also has an active cultural life, with many clubs and associations that offer various activities for children, youth and adults. The municipality has several cultural buildings, such as Brønnøy cinema, Brønnøy cultural center and Brønnøy library. Every year there are several festivals and events in the municipality, such as Rootsfestivalen, Sommer-Melbu, Torghattfestivalen and Julemarkedet.
