Gildeskål is a municipality in Salten in Nordland, located south of the mouth of Saltfjorden. The municipality has about 2000 inhabitants and covers an area of 513 km2 on the mainland and 103 km2 on the islands. Gildeskål has a rich nature and culture, with many attractions and activities for both residents and visitors. Some examples are:
Sandhornet, a 993 meter high mountain on Sandhornøya, which is a popular hiking destination with a great view of the sea and the islands.

Gildeskål also has a varied business sector, with both public and private sectors. The municipality has among other things focus on aquaculture, tourism, agriculture, trade and service. Gildeskål has good infrastructure, with Kystriksveien passing through the municipality, as well as ferry and express boat connections to the islands. The municipality also has several schools and kindergartens, as well as an active sports and voluntary environment.
Gildeskål is a municipality that wants to grow and develop, and has a goal of getting 250 more inhabitants by 2027. To achieve this goal, the municipality has implemented various measures to involve the inhabitants, create attractive residential areas, strengthen the business sector and promote the municipality’s qualities.
