Lurøy municipality is an island municipality on Helgeland in Nordland county, with around 1900 inhabitants . The municipality has an area of 1300 km², of which 264 km² is land . Lurøy consists of 1372 large and small islands, some with special mountain formations such as Aldra, Lurøy, Stigen, Onøy and Lovund . The municipality has one urban area, Lovund, which has had clear growth in population since the 1990s.
