Saltdal municipality is a beautiful and diverse municipality in Nordland county, which stretches from the fjord to the mountain. The municipality has about 4700 inhabitants, and an area of 2213 km2. Saltdal is known for its rich cultural life, its diverse nature and its exciting tourist destinations. 

Saltdal has an active cultural life, with among other things Saltdalshistoria, a historical play that is performed every year. Saltdal has a good upbringing environment, with several schools and kindergartens. The municipality has three primary schools: Rognan school, Øvre Saltdal school and Junkerdal upbringing center. The municipality also has a secondary school: Saltdal secondary school. Saltdal has six kindergartens: Rognan kindergarten, Storjord kindergarten, Lønsdal kindergarten, Øvre Saltdal kindergarten, Junkerdal kindergarten and Røkland kindergarten.
