Sømna municipality is a beautiful and diverse municipality in Helgeland in Nordland. It has about 2000 inhabitants and is the largest agricultural municipality in Nordland(1). The municipality consists of the southern part of the peninsula Sømna, as well as Kvaløya and a number of other smaller islands, islets and reefs outside(2). The municipality has a land area of 189 km2(3).

It is also possible to take a bus from Grong or Brønnøysund to Sømna(7). The nearest airport is Brønnøysund airport, which is 39 km away(8). 

Sømna has a varied business sector, with emphasis on agriculture, forestry and fishing. The municipality also has several private companies in various industries, such as construction and engineering, trade, service, transport, tourism and health(6). 

Sømna has three schools: Berg school, Vik school and Sørskaget school. The municipality also has four kindergartens: Berg kindergarten, Vik kindergarten, Sørskaget kindergarten and Vågan kindergarten(1).
