Tana

Tana municipality, or Deatnu in Sami, is a beautiful and diverse municipality in East Finnmark in Troms and Finnmark county. The municipality has about 2800 inhabitants who speak Norwegian, Sami and Kven. The Tana River, which is Norway’s third longest river, runs through the municipality and forms the border with Finland in the south. The Tana River is also known for its rich salmon fishing and its unique cultural history. 

Tana municipality has an area of 3 722 km², which makes it the fifth largest municipality in the country by area. The municipality has a varied landscape with mountains, plateaus, forests and water.
