Fauske is a municipality in Salten in Nordland that borders Sørfold, Sweden, Saltdal, Beiarn and Bodø. The municipality has an area of 1210 km2 and has 9620 inhabitants as of the first quarter of 2021. The municipal center Fauske has city status and is located at the innermost part of Fauskevika, an arm of Skjerstadfjorden.
Fauske has a rich history, nature and culture. The municipality is known for marble export, mining, agriculture and trade. Fauske also has many attractions and activities for tourists and residents, such as Sulitjelma museum, Fauske hotel, Jakobsbakken ski center, Sulitjelma mountain village, Valnesfjord health sports center and many great hiking trails.
Fauske has a varied business sector with both public and private sectors. The municipality has among other things a hospital, secondary school, library, cinema, cultural center, sports hall and swimming pool. The private sector consists of among other things trade, service, transport, construction and engineering, industry and tourism.
Fauske is a municipality with many opportunities to live and reside. The municipality has a good upbringing and education offer with 11 kindergartens and 7 schools. The municipality also has an active cultural life with many associations and clubs, festivals and events. Some examples are Fauskedagene, Fauskivalen, Sulisfestivalen, Fauske sprinten and Fauske maraton.
