Beiarn is a beautiful inland municipality in the Salten region, just south of Bodø, where nature shapes both everyday life and leisure. Beiarfjorden winds its way inland before opening into the stunning Beiardalen stretching nearly 50 kilometers and surrounded by towering mountains and deep valleys.¹. Nature plays a central role in Beiarn. The Beiarelva River is considered one of Norway’s top salmon rivers in terms of catch per kilometer, attracting both local anglers and visiting fishing enthusiasts⁴. The surrounding mountains, fjords, and valleys offer excellent opportunities for outdoor activities, with parts of the Saltfjellet–Svartisen and Láhko national parks located within the municipality¹.
Beiarn offers a close-knit and safe environment for children to grow up in, where schools and kindergartens actively use nature as part of learning and play³. The municipality is committed to providing children and young people with inclusive meeting places and a wide range of cultural and recreational activities.
Beiarn’s economy is diverse, with agriculture playing a particularly strong role. Around thirty farms produce milk, meat, wool, and goat cheese⁵. At the same time, a number of small local businesses in technology, crafts, and services reflect the community’s creativity and innovative spirit.⁶ ⁷.
