Tana municipality, or Deatnu in Sami, is a beautiful and diverse municipality in East Finnmark in Troms and Finnmark county. The municipality has about 2800 inhabitants who speak Norwegian, Sami and Kven. The Tana River, which is Norway’s third longest river, runs through the municipality and forms the border with Finland in the south. The Tana River is also known for its rich salmon fishing and its unique cultural history. 

Tana municipality has an area of 3 722 km², which makes it the fifth largest municipality in the country by area. The municipality has a varied landscape with mountains, plateaus, forests and water. The highest point is Geassáčohkka at 1 187 meters above sea level. The municipality also has a rich wildlife with reindeer, moose, grouse, eagle and bear. 

Tana municipality has an active and lively cultural life with many events and festivals throughout the year. The municipality also has its own cultural center, a museum, a library and several sports facilities. In addition, the municipality has several attractions such as Samelandsbrua, Polmak Church, Seida Stone Age Settlement and Varangerbotn War Memorial. 

Tana municipality has a varied business sector with agriculture, reindeer herding, mining, construction and service provision. The municipality also has several private companies in various industries such as trade, transport, tourism, fish farming and handicrafts. The municipality has a good cooperation with the private sector and offers support schemes and guidance for entrepreneurs and start-ups. 

Tana municipality is a good municipality to live and work in for people of all ages. The municipality has a good education offer with five primary schools, one secondary school and one folk high school. The municipality also has several kindergartens with different pedagogical profiles. The municipality also has a good health offer with medical services, health center, care center, nursing home and housing for the elderly.

It is a municipality that values diversity, cooperation, innovation and sustainability. It is a municipality that wants to take care of its inhabitants and attract new ones.
